Pedestal Gaiwan - Blue
Deep cobalt-blue tea bowl and lid. The calligraphy around the bowl is the Buddhist "Heart Sutra". From Dehua, the famous center for porcelain in Southern Fujian province. Originally gaiwans were made without saucers. The gold trim on the lid and base gives a note of elegance and contrast to the solid red color. Recommended teas to use: Silver Needle (pale yellow color), White Jade (light green), Tie Guan Yin - Watermelon (pale green). 5 oz.
